What is an emergency contraceptive?

Answer:

If you have unprotected sex or if there is an accident like a condom splitting then you can take emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy. The earlier you do this the better.

You should also get tested for a sexually transmitted infection if you and your partner haven’t done this already.

Myth: My girlfriend uses other contraception so we don’t need to use condoms
Truth:

Sexually transmitted infections can be passed on from person to person when not using condoms. Also no contraception is perfect for preventing pregnancy, especially if the person forgets to take the pill for example, so using condoms offers a further level of protection.
