Have you used a pregnancy test?

You can buy a pregnancy test from pharmacists or supermarkets. Find out more about pregnancy tests.

Already know you are pregnant?

Then ring Locala as soon as possible on 030 3330 9500 or make an appointment with your GP or midwife as soon as you find out you're pregnant.

You should also try find out about local maternity services in your area.

Get registered with a Doctors surgery (GP)

If you're not yet registered with a GP, use the NHS service search to find a GP near you here.

Your pregnancy can be treated confidentially, even if you are under 16.

Worried about being pregnant?

If you are pregnant there is plenty of help and advice available for you, so you are not alone. if you are under 18, your parents do not need to know about help and support you receive.

Counselling is available for you if you need someone to talk to who won’t judge you but will help you reach a decision that is the best moving forward.

Or it might be a good idea to talk to someone close to you whom you can trust. This is a big decision in anyone's life so you should think over things to make sure you make the right decision, someone to talk to can help with this - keeping things “bottled up” is never a good idea.

If you decide you would like to continue with your pregnancy then get in touch with your doctor as soon as possible to arrange to start antenatal care.

Not sure you want to be pregnant?

If you don’t wish to continue with the pregnancy there are options available for you:

  • having an abortion
  • continuing with the pregnancy and having the baby adopted.

Counsellors are available for you before or after an abortion if you need to deal with any thoughts or feelings.

Some people believe that if you belly is higher up you are having a girl, and lower down means a boy but there is no evidence to suggest this is true.
